The 15th of November was the beginning of the long awaited and missed seminar. This was the first one since we relocated from River road, (on 4th of Jan 09) to Ruaraka. The revival of the seminars was a great blessing to those who attended. 
We had guest speakers in the seminar, Bishop Francis Maina and wife pastor Grace Maina of Regeneration ministry. Their powerful testimony of how God healed both of them from AIDS after they forgave one another was very powerful.
Pastor Grace taught on; communication in marriage, she explained about 3 levels in communication:
- In the first level, People talk about what happened
- In the second level people talk about themselves
- In level 3 people talk about their feelings
She emphasized that partners should communicate in the three levels and if there is a problem in the first level it would be difficult to communicate in the other levels. She discussed five barriers to communication
- Fear - She emphasized that there is no fear in love
- Being too busy such that one has no time to communicate with the partner
- Failure to listen-It is only after listening that one hears what the other persons say.
- Father role, mother role, both needs to play their parts in bringing up their children.
- Hurt - Being honest, should respect once partner and speak out when one is hurt
The scripture reading was Gen 2:18-15 which emphasizes that couples ought to be “naked and unashamed”.
Bishop Maina taught on handling crises and mentioned that the key ingredient is being patient with one another. He read James 1:2, we should consider it pure joy when we face trials of many kinds since the testing of our faith develops perseverance which must finish its work for us to be mature and lacking nothing. He identified very well with the scriptures as he gave their experiences and what they have gone through in their marriage.
There was great impact among those who listened; example one husband received a message from the wife for the first time after ten years of marriage telling him that she forgave him for everything he has ever done to her.
